The Dutch in New York
What happened? Some reporter from Holland asked you to star in an segment for the Dutch television program Man Bites Dog. What is Man Bites Dog and what do we do in NYC?
Man Bites Dog is a daily television news show, about normal and unknown people. This seasons’ start is in New York City due to the 400 years of enduring friendship between the Netherlands and the United States. Four centuries ago, the Dutch ship ‘Halve Maan’ (Half Moon) entered the sheltering bay of the island Manhattan with Captain Henry Hudson at the helm. The trade wise Dutch bought the island from the local Indians and founded the settlement New Amsterdam and the New Netherland colony. You’ll find more information about the celebrations at the NY400-website.
Man Bites Dog is in New York to film every day life of average New Yorkers for Dutch national television. We'll be crossing New York City in yellow cabs, be knocking on your door and will try to talk as many New Yorkers as we can!
Our first episode premiers on September 9th at 7 PM on Dutch television; on September 10th you this episode can be watched on www.manbijthond.nl
Hope to hear from you, leave a message in our guestbook!
